At DeepL, we're on an exciting adventure to expand our operations to match our ambitious growth plans. At the heart of this journey is our Sales team, a cornerstone of DeepL's market expansion and customer engagement strategy.
Our mission is clear: to build and develop high-performing sales teams that embody DeepL's innovative spirit and drive for excellence. As a member of our Sales team, you will be at the forefront of driving our growth and expanding our global reach into new markets. Working in close partnership with Marketing, Product, and Customer Success teams, you will collaborate to deliver tailored solutions that meet the needs of our clients.
About this opportunity
We are seeking an exceptional sales professional based in Germany to establish and develop DeepL's presence in the Austrian market from the ground up. This is a unique opportunity to build something meaningful in a market where we have minimal footprint. You will be the driving force behind our Austrian expansion, combining entrepreneurial spirit with deep market knowledge.
Your responsibilities
Pioneer our Austrian market entry: You will be at the forefront of DeepL's expansion into Austria, presenting our market-leading translation service to clients and helping them eliminate their language barriers
Build from scratch: Establish our sales foundation in Austria, creating processes, relationships, and market presence where little currently exists
Become a market expert: Develop deep knowledge of the Austrian business landscape, cultural nuances, and customer needs to position DeepL as the trusted solution
Become an ambassador: Serve as an expert on DeepL's products and your customers' needs in order to troubleshoot and rapidly resolve inquiries
Drive the full sales cycle: As a trusted partner to potential new business and incoming customers, you will qualify and convert leads and manage the entire sales cycle
Exceed ambitious goals: Strive to meet and exceed monthly activity, pipeline, and revenue goals as we establish our market presence
Build a robust pipeline: Develop a pipeline of new business, and pursue upselling and cross-selling opportunities
Manage high-volume opportunities: Respond to inbound prospects and customers, managing a high volume of opportunities from qualification to close
Track and forecast: Forecast and track all opportunity and customer details including use cases, purchase timeframes, and next steps
Collaborate across borders: Work closely with our diverse, international and welcoming teams from SDR to Marketing, coordinating across boarders

Deep Austrian market knowledge: You have genuine knowledge and appreciation of Austrian business culture, market dynamics, and customer preferences. You understand what makes the Austrian market unique
Cultural fluency: You have a deep understanding and appreciation for Austrian culture, values, and business practices. You can authentically connect with Austrian clients and partners
Strong full-cycle sales experience: Proven track record in Enterprise Sales with the ability to manage complex, multi-stakeholder deals
SaaS expertise: Expertise in software sales—especially SaaS—is preferred
Exceptional communication skills: Outstanding organisation, presentation, and communication skills (both verbal and written) in a multicultural context
Adaptability and resilience: You feel at home in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment. You're able to shift priorities, adapt to dynamic situations, and maintain momentum in an emerging market
Team player: You enjoy being part of a team and thrive by supporting your colleagues and collaborating with cross-functional teams
Language proficiency: Fluent English and Austrian-German, so you can communicate authentically with Austrian clients
Location: Based in Germany with willingness to travel to Austria as needed to build relationships and establish market presence
