Position Summary:
ProFound Therapeutics is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Research Associate II (RA II) to join the Lab Operations Team and drive Antibody Validation. This role will play a critical hands-on role in the validation, characterization, quality control, and distribution of antibodies and protein reagents that support multiple internal scientific teams and external collaborations.
The ideal candidate is an experienced bench scientist who is comfortable working at the intersection of experimental biology, histology, and laboratory operations, and who values rigor, organization, and reproducibility. This position will evolve over time as the Antibody Validation Core grows, with additional responsibilities added as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine histology techniques including paraffin sectioning, standard histological stains, and immunohistochemistry (IHC), including novel antibody optimization .
- Validate and characterize novel antibodies and proteins using established and emerging assay approaches.
- Perform SDS-PAGE, Western blotting, and related protein analysis techniques to assess antibody specificity, sensitivity, and performance.
- Execute antibody and protein quality control (QC) workflows to ensure consistency and reliability of internal reagents.
- Maintain mammalian tissue culture to support antibody validation and functional testing.
- Manage internal antibody and protein reagent inventories, including receiving, labeling, storage, and tracking.
- Maintain accurate sample inventory and metadata in Benchling or related laboratory information systems.
- Coordinate domestic and international shipments of biological samples in compliance with institutional and regulatory requirements.
- Distribute samples to internal end users upon request, ensuring proper documentation and chain-of-custody.
- Document experimental procedures, results, and QC outcomes in electronic laboratory notebooks.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of Antibody Validation Core workflows and best practices.
- Additional responsibilities may be added over time as the function and company scale.
Qualifications:
- BS in Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Immunology, or a related discipline with ~3+ years of relevant laboratory experience; MS with fewer years of experience will be considered.
- Hands-on experience with SDS-PAGE, Western blotting, tissue culture, and basic protein biochemistry.
- Direct experience with histology techniques, including H&E staining and immunohistochemistry (IHC), required.
- Experience with antibody or protein validation and QC workflows.
- Familiarity with laboratory inventory and sample tracking systems (e.g., Benchling or similar platforms).
- Experience coordinating domestic and/or international biological shipments is a plus.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and commitment to data integrity and reproducibility.

The salary range for this role is $74,000 - $93,500. Compensation for the role will depend on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies, and experience.
