Option B: The “Specific Relevance” Approach
“Hi [Name], I saw you’re leading the [Department] team at [Company]. I help similar teams solve [Specific Problem]. thought it might be valuable to connect. Best, [Your Name]”
Option C: The Mutual Connection
“Hi [Name], I see we both know [Mutual Connection]. They speak highly of you. I’d love to connect and keep up with your work at [Company]. Thanks, [Your Name]”
2. Cold Email Scripts
Goal: Get a response (not necessarily a sale immediately).
Script 1: The “Permission” Email (Low Friction)
Subject: Quick question about [Company]
Hi [First Name],
I’m doing some research on [Industry] companies and noticed [Company] is doing [Specific Observation].
I’m writing a short report on how [Industry] leaders are tackling [Problem]. Could I send it over when it’s done? No catch, just thought you might find the data useful.
Best, [Your Name]
Script 2: The “Case Study” Email (Social Proof)
Subject: How [Competitor/Similar Company] achieved [Result]
Hi [First Name],
I noticed [Company] is scaling its [Department].
We recently helped [Similar Company] achieve [Result] in [Timeframe] by fixing [Specific Problem].
I have a breakdown of exactly how they did it. Worth a quick chat to see if the same strategy applies to [Company]?
Cheers, [Your Name]
Script 3: The “Founder to Founder” (Peer Level)
Subject: [Company Name] + [Your Company Name]
[Name],
I’m the founder of [Your Company], a boutique firm specializing in [Service].
I’m reaching out because I suspect you might be dealing with [Problem], given your stage of growth. We handle this for clients like [Client A] and [Client B] so they can focus on [Core Business].
Open to a 10-min intro call next Tuesday?
Best, [Your Name]
3. Cold Call Script
Goal: Book a meeting.
Opener:
“Hi [Name], this is [Your Name] from [Company]. I know I’m catching you in the middle of your day—can I get 30 seconds to tell you why I called, and then you can decide if we keep talking?”
The Hook (If they say yes):
“Thanks. I noticed [Company] is [Trigger Event: hiring / launching product / etc.]. Usually when I see that, it means [Department] is struggling with [Problem]. Is that something you’re seeing right now?”
The Value/Ask:
“We help companies like yours solve [Problem] without [Common Pain Point]. I’m not asking for anything today, but I’d love to share a few ideas on how you could fix this. Do you have your calendar handy for a brief chat on Thursday?”
4. Follow-Up Scripts
Persistence pays off.
Follow-Up 1 (3 days later)
“Hi [Name], just bumping this to the top of your inbox. Did you get a chance to see my note about [Topic]? Happy to send over that case study if you’re interested.”
Follow-Up 2 (The “Break Up” Email)
Subject: Should I cross this off?
Hi [Name],
I haven’t heard back, so I assume [Problem] isn’t a priority right now, or you’ve already got it handled.
I’ll stop reaching out for now. If you ever need help with [Service], feel free to ping me.
Best, [Your Name]
5. Objection Handling Cheat Sheet
| Objection | Response |
|---|---|
| “We already have a vendor.” | “That’s great. Most of our clients keep us on file as a specialist backup for [Specific Niche] when their main vendor is at capacity. Would it hurt to see some of our work?” |
| “Send me some info.” | “Happy to. To make sure I send what’s relevant, are you focused more on [Topic A] or [Topic B] right now?” |
| “I’m not the right person.” | “Thanks for letting me know. Who on your team handles [Function]? I’d appreciate a point in the right direction.” |
| “Call me next quarter.” | “Understood. What specific project or milestone needs to happen before then? I can make a note to follow up with that in mind.” |
